Doug’s Wood River Retreat is a sweet refuge where you can enjoy solitude and quiet, knowing that you are staying in a place that values its surroundings and the environment at large. Our family was able to enjoy the St. Croix River area with hikes and skis within minutes, followed by the coziness of the wood burning stove and many elements of Doug’s well-appointed cabin - comfortable beds, great sound system, great kitchen (with good appliances, utensils and sharp knives!). Doug is thoughtful, generous and a good communicator. Would recommend this spot highly!!!!!

Doug’s place could not have been a better way to ring in the new year. It was darn cold but the heat and wood stove combined made it the coziest retreat anyone could ask for! Highly recommended!

Wood River Retreat is our favorite cabin getaway! The cabin is simple yet offers the best appliances, accoutrement, comfortable beds and linens, television and stereo as well as the wood burning stove! The location is nestled in total isolation surrounded by gorgeous mature trees and pines! It’s just the best!

We had a wonderful, peaceful weekend at this cabin. Hanging out in front of the woodstove doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, listening to music - all while the snow fell outside. This place is perfect for a snowy weekend getaway, and only 75 minutes from Minneapolis! We’ll definitely be back.
